The four categories of Center membership
(Investigator, Scientist, Industry
Associate, and Junior Investigator)
are described below. In order to apply for membership, please
send your CV and a brief cover letter to the BONRC Administrator

Investigator
An individual with an academic appointment, current peer reviewed funding in the area of obesity, energy expenditure or nutrition and a published research record. This individual may:
- Apply for funds and support fellows in an application for pilot funds;
- Serve on the Center's Executive Committee;
- Use core facilities and technical training;
- Consult with BONRC Core Directors/co-Directors about projects and research techniques and methodology; and
- Participate in enrichment activities, including seminars and professional meetings sponsored by BONRC.
Scientist
An individual with an academic appointment and an interest in research in the area of obesity, energy expenditure or nutrition. This individual may:
- Use core facilities and technical training;
- Consult with BONRC Core Directors/co-Directors about projects and research techniques and methodology; and
- Participate in enrichment activities, including seminars and professional meetings sponsored by BONRC.
Industry Associate
This individual is involved with research in the area of obesity, energy expenditure or nutrition. Their membership is obtained by making a financial contribution to BONRC for use as an unrestricted educational/research grant or to support a specific enrichment program.
- Consult with BONRC Core Directors/co-Directors about projects and research techniques and methodology; and
- Participate in enrichment activities, including seminars and professional meetings sponsored by BONRC.
Junior Investigator
An individual who is completing a research fellowship or other training experience in the area of obesity, energy expenditure or nutrition. This category may include BONRC funded pilot and feasibility recipients. This individual may:
- Apply for funds in an application for pilot funds;
- Serve on the Center's Executive Committee as a Pilot & Feasibility representative;
- Use core facilities and technical training;
- Consult with BONRC Core Directors/co-Directors about projects and research techniques and methodology; and
- Participate in enrichment activities, including seminars and professional meetings sponsored by BONRC.
